According to legend, the Pandavas built the Kedarnath Temple to seek Lord Shiva’s forgiveness after the Kurukshetra war. The present temple is said to have been revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
A Temple That Survived the 2013 Floods:
During the devastating 2013 flash floods, while the entire valley was damaged, the Kedarnath Temple remained unharmed, protected by a massive boulder (now called Bhim Shila) that diverted the floodwaters.Mysterious Stone Architecture:
The temple is made of massive stone slabs, each weighing several tons — built at an altitude of 11,755 ft, long before modern machinery existed!Home of Shiva’s Hump:
It’s believed that after the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva’s blessings, he appeared in the form of a bull (Nandi). When they tried to catch him, he disappeared into the earth, and his hump appeared at Kedarnath, while his other body parts appeared at the other Panch Kedar sites.
Open Only Six Months a Year:
Due to heavy snowfall, the temple remains open from April/May to October/November. During winter, the deity is shifted to Ukhimath, where it is worshipped for the remaining six months.Surrounded by Snow-Clad Peaks:

DAY 0 – Departure For Kedarnath : Assemble & Board vehicle from Akshardham metro station at 9 PM, Depart for Kedarnath at 9:30 PM Overnight journey Delhi to Devpryag (Where Bhagirathi Meets Alakhnanda).
DAY 1 – Arrival at Sirsi / Guptkashi : Reach Devprayag, Take a smal Break from journey for breakfast and Sangam view Continue journey to sirsi , Reach Guptkashi, Overnight Stay , and dinner.
DAY 2 – Guptkashi to Gaurikund (Treking point) : Early morning wakeup & freshenup Sunrise view, breakfast at campsite Drive to trek starting point, hike to Tungnath sightseing and capture memories at the trek take Devine darshana of Tungnath Mahadev and start trek to Chandrashila summit, Return to campsite, evening snacks, bonfire, music
DAY 3 – End the wait Darshan of Kedarnath Dham: Visit Kedarnath temple rest in camps and take bath , attend morning prayers at dham and Darshana “Shivling of Kedarnath” Breakfast and, trek down to Guptkashi. and take some rest in eveining Dinner at night and overnight stay in Hotel.
DAY 4 – Back to Delhi : pack bags and colect your memories & photos, Drive back to Delhi, lunch stop at Devprayag , reach delhi at night say bye to your co-travelers.
